01Landon Donovan Facebook “Unofficial Interview”
Posted By: Terry on December 1, 2011 at 9:16 pmRecently, Gatorade Philippines held a fans’ Q & A session which was held
on Gatorade Philippines Facebook wall.
Landon Donovan, aka CAPTAIN AMERICA, came on LIVE and took time
to answer questions posted on the wall.
Here are some snippets:
Fan: “It seems that Filippino fans love you, would you come back here
in the Philippines after the match?”
LANDON: “I would absolutely come back here one day. I want to go to
the Baracay beach.”
Fan: “Sir Landon Donovan!! Don’t get mad at my question. Do you
think that Azkals can beat LA Galaxy?
LANDON: “Yes I do. But I don’t think they will.”
Fan: “How do you keep calm during tense games? I’ve noticed you
rarely get mad. Especially what happened against the red Bulls?
Have you gotten any red cards?”
LANDON: “Only got one red card in my career, when I was 17
years old playing for the US Youth Team. It’s not always easy but
I think it’s really important to keep you composure.”
Fan: “Who influenced you to play soccer? How old did you start
playing soccer and decided to become a pro?”
LANDON: “I have an older half-brother that loved playing and
got me into the game at an early age. From the minute I could
walk, he was teaching me how to kick a soccer ball.”
Fan: “Hi Landon! Now that Filippinos are stating to embrace
Football as part of the culture, what is the best advice you can
give to aspiring football players of this generation?”
LANDON: “Very good question. The best advice I ever received
was from my mother. She always told me to “just have fun”. If
you enjoy the sport, you will always get better. You can learn
the tactical parts of the game later in life. If you’re young
and want to get better, play as much as possible.”
Fan: “How do you keep up in terms of conditioning with Galaxy
and National Team Duty?”
LANDON: “As you know, our season is long and grueling. There
are a few vital elements to keeping yourself strong throughout
the season. The way you hydrate and replenish your body after
training/games is crucial to your recovery.
I have learned to hydrate constantly, whether I’m at home,
at training or even traveling. I try to rest as much as I can
during downtime and keep my mind fresh by meditation
and sleeping as much as I can.”
Some questions posted gave insight on the likings and favorites
of Landon.
Fan: “Any team favorite in the NFL?”
LANDON: “Raiderssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss”
Fan: “Hey Landon, what’s your favorite aquatic mammal?”
LANDON: “Dolphins”
Fan: “Favorite subject in school?”
LANDON: “I always loved math.”
