LA Galaxy’s MLS SuperDraft Pick in Kansas City

Posted By: Terry on January 12, 2012 at 3:09 am

2012 MLS SuperDraft rumors are rife and riling as coaches and representatives

of the Major League Soccer clubs gather at Kansas City and it is still anyone’s

guess as to the young players who will land themselves a professional contract

with LA Galaxy.

2012 MLS SuperDraft Live in Kansas City

Fans of LA Galaxy can watch the 2012 SuperDraft Live on ESPN2 Channel

at 9am PT.

This is what Bruce Arena has to say with regards to LA Galaxy’s #19 and #38

picks.

“We’re picking 19 and that simply means we will be reacting to the 18 teams ahead of us.

It’s really that simple.”

A simple strategy indeed, described in simple words. There will be 18 clubs before

LA Galaxy’s turn, with Montreal Impact leading the pack. However, that is still a

worthy enough sacrifice for being the MLS Cup Champions last year.

The best pick that LA Galaxy picked was the #4 pick Omar Gonzalez in 2009,who

was also recently voted the Defender of the Year in the MLS. With the #18 pick,

it is not possible for Bruce Arena to pick an able replacement to the injured Omar

Gonzalez, who has been scheduled for ACL repair surgery on Friday, 13 January.

The 2012 MLS SuperDraft features a bigger talent pool of attackers, more than

the defenders.

Most likely, Bruce Arena will pick the best talent available to him on LA Galaxy’s

turn, in the MLS SuperDraft. This will supercede the picking the option that will

best suit the needs of the team. The injuries to Omar Gonzalez and the departure

of Juninho leave a gaping hole in the middle of both defence and midfield.

BeckhamGalaxy make sthe cross reference with the recommendations from

SoccerByIves site and also compiles the shortlist for Bruce Arena’s considerations.

Some player recommendations were based on great reviews of the players’

performances shown during the MLS Combine games.

2012 MLS SuperDraft Shortlist

Kirk Urso             Midfielder, UNC

Has trained with the LA Galaxy before, with affliations. Put in a decent performance

during the COMBINE games. Shows cool head and collective calmness in the game.

Andy Rose         Midfielder, UCLA

Made great decisions from midfield, and is capable of launching long shots from

outside, akin to Juninho’s long-range bombs.

Sam Garza          Winger/Forward, UC

An impressive winger who demonstrated good playmaking skills and decisions.

Possible to learn under the ropes of Magee, and to provide width to the midfield

of LA Galaxy.

Kohei Yamada        Midfielder, Japan

Turns in surprise performances during the combine games. Quick feet, small

build, it remains to be seen if he can cope with the physical defending of the

MLS game.

The list above did not include any defenders, as the shortlist is to narrow down

the recommendations for the #19 pick. Check out BeckhamGalaxy’s

Omar Gonzalez Replacement Strategy, which includes the picks for

defenders as additional covers.

Recently, LA Galaxy team roster included the addition of Andrew Boyens,

defender who previously plays for Chivas USA. Not a bad idea actually,

considering that he will have familiarized himself with LA Galaxy’s play

in previous derbies of LA Galaxy vs Chivas.

The extension of loan of Leonardo from Sao Paulo needs to be sorted out, and

this includes the loan of Miguel Lopez, and Paolo Cardozo who has returned

to Quilmes as the coach wishes to see them personally to review his inclusion

of the players into the squad.

Bruce Arena needs to add able bodies into the depleting team roster of LA

Galaxy, starting with Kansas City’s 2012 MLS SuperDraft.

Omar Gonzalez ACL Injury – Serious or not?

Posted By: Terry on January 7, 2012 at 5:00 pm

Omar Gonzalez will be scheduled for a surgery by one of LA Galaxy

team doctor, to operate on the rupture of his ACL (acute cruciate

ligament). The injury occurred during Omar Gonzalez’s first training

session with FC Nurnberg, in an unfortunate collision with fellow

American Timothy Chandler.

This injury is a set-back for LA Galaxy and their fans, and Omar will

most likely miss out on the important CONCACAF Champions League

match versus Toronto FC.

Not the First Time for LA Galaxy

This is not the first time LA Galaxy has encountered players who came

back injured from overseas loan. In 2010, David Beckham tore his left

Achilles tendon while playing on loan for AC Milan, and also kept him

out of the 2010 World Cup. Beckham may also make a private

recommendation to his private doctor in Finland, who carried out a

successful operation on him, two day after he tore his tendon.

Hope to See Omar Gonzalez Back to Fitness Soon!

ACL rupture is quite a common injury in soccer, although female

soccer players are more likely to be afflicted by this injury as compared

to their male counterparts. According to the records of the American

Academy of Orthpaedic, there were over 200,000 injuries of ACL on

record annually and 100,000 reconstruction surgery performed each

year.

Other notable ACL cases will include Beckham’s former England colleague,

Michael Owen. Michael Owen tore his ligament during one of the 2006

World Cup Game versus Sweden.

Wishing Omar a Speedy Recovery

That was really a horrific injury blow to Owen, and he never reach

the peak of his career after that. I hope that it will not be the same

case with Omar Gonzalez, and optimistically, Omar will be back

in the training with the team and also to play a part in the second

half of the MLS season.

Omar Gonzalez’s latest tweet, that showed his strength of character.

Omar4Gonzalez

“Where there is no struggle, there is no strength. I’ll be looking

forward to some more love from you guys once my surgery is scheduled!”

BeckhamGalaxy Scouts the LA Galaxy’s Beckham Deal

Posted By: Terry on January 4, 2012 at 6:20 pm

It is now revealed that David Beckham has rejected signing the contract

with PSG, the Parisian club that has been courting for his signature feverishly

for the past few months. BeckhamGalaxy has long projected that Beckham will

be staying with LA Galaxy, click here to view the factors of Beckham’s Decision.

Beckham, as of 01 Janaury 2012, is now considered a free agent, with

LA Galaxy being tipped in the foremost seat to sign with him. This is definitely

great news for LA Galaxy club and fans alike. Juninho has left for Sao Paulo,

at least the LA Galaxy midfield that has aided the club to go on the winning

conquest to the MLS Cup last season, will have Beckham in it.

Have a closer look at BeckhamGalaxy’s Beckham-Sarvas Partnership.

It is not a done deal yet

According to some reports from the media, Beckham is tipped to sign a

two-year contract deal with LA Galaxy. It is not certain yet but Galaxy

president Leiweke has been on the phone with the Beckham’s representative

all day.

The City Hall Parade in Paris has been scheduled, should David Beckham decide

to become a PSG player. French newspapers blasted the headlines that Beckham

has said “Yes” to the deal with PSG, but the spokesperson for Beckham has strongly

denied any form of agreement with PSG.

The French papers called the Beckham deal to be 95 percent done. It looks like

they didn’t anticipate the 5 percent, which is equally important.

As of now, David Beckham, his wife Victoria and their four children had spent

the Christmas and New Year in London. There is no doubt that Beckham will be

considering the offer put up by LA Galaxy and Beckham has weighed in his family

behind his signature on any contract offer. The good news to LA Galaxy is that

Victoria and the four Beckham children are well-settled in LA and Beckham has

decided not to uproot the family from the place where they have spent 5 years

together as a family.

According to Leiweke, there are other clubs that are also pursuing for Beckham’s

signature.

BeckhamGalaxy is suspecting that the clubs to be Tottenham Hotspurs and

Queen Park Rangers. The Chinese premier club Shanghai Shenhua could be

eyeing on the star power of David Beckham, and his appeal to the 1 billion fans

in China.

Factors favoring LA Galaxy as favorites

1. LA Galaxy will release Beckham for British Olympics

Another factor that will tip in LA Galaxy’s favor is that LA Galaxy has declared that

they will definitely release Beckham for the British Olympic games and to allow him

to play for the Great Britain football team. LA Galaxy coach Bruce Arena has given

“Thumbs Up”.

2. Beckham still has a role to play in America

Beckham has definitely brought up the star power of soccer in America. It may not

be as big as the sports powerhouses of Basketball and American Football, but it

is slowly and surely gaining more soccer fans. It helps that LA Galaxy is in the land

of Hollywood, and complements with the star power of David Beckham. After Beckham,

star players like Thierry Henry has followed suit to add to the glitz and glamor of soccer

sports in America.

3. Beckham and his family in LA

David and Victoria, with their four children are very much settled in LA and it will

take much more to uproot the entire family from LA. That is the important 5 percent

that PSG did not factor in. Add in the Beckham couple’s close friends like Tom Cruise

and his wife, Katie Holmes, the Beckham family are very much settled in LA and

America. Victoria can continue to work her fashion label in LA, and she can work closely

with the many Hollywood stars who are donning her dresses.

Beckham with Three Stars

It is no longer a speculation. It is more of  a question of “When” Beckham will ink the deal

with LA Galaxy. And BeckhamGalaxy is standing behind AEG President, Tim Leiweke’s

words,

“I’ll repeat what I said in November:

I believe David Beckham will play for the LA Galaxy this year.”

BeckhamGalaxy Scouts out Marcelos Sarvas

Posted By: Terry on December 28, 2011 at 6:00 pm

Marcelos Sarvas has been unveiled by LA Galaxy as a new signing,

out of the MLS Drafting System. With Juninho heading back to

Sao Paulo, the spotlight is on Marcelos Sarvas as to whether he will

be able to fill the shoes of Juninho.

Bruce Arena Spoke “Highly” of Marcelos Sarvas

Bruce Arena shed light on Marcelos Sarvas, speaking highly of the player

who previously crossed swords with LA Galaxy as the captain of Costa Rican

outfit Alajuelense during the CONCACAF Champions League matches. In one

of the matches, Alajuelense beat LA Galaxy 1-0. During the post-match

interview, Beckham noted that the Alajuelense were a formidable opponent

who had bested them on that occasion.

Upon searching “Marcelos Sarvas” in Youtube, the following video revealed

the playing style of Marcelos Sarvas. He was a penalty taker for Alajuelense,

and showed great technique and long-range shooting from outside the box.

His long shots are reminiscent of the famous “Long-Range Bombs” of Juninho.

What is Your peronal assessment of Marcelos Sarvas?

The Beckham-Sarvas Partnership?

I will like to see Marcelos Sarvas playing alongside David Beckham and

watch them play off each other. I see Sarvas taking on a more defensive

role while Beckham will concentrate on play-making and the offense plays

of LA Galaxy.

Sarvas has shown that he is able to make penetrating runs and also to

make surging runs with the ball as well. As such, Sarvas and Beckham

can rotate the offensive and defensive roles. One will cover for defence

while the other will move forward. It will be great if Marcelos Sarvas,

David Beckham and Ronaldinho can form a midfield triumvirate.

Have a look at BeckhamGalaxy Recommended signing of Ronaldinho.

But of  course, Marcelos Sarvas is a new signing and he may take some

time to build an understanding with the rest of the players, and to familiarize

with LA Galaxy’s playing style. Sarvas has to be able to adapt accordingly, and

also pick up conversational English,  and to build a good rapport with the other

players.

Only Time Can Tell

Fans of LA Galaxy should wait for the pre-season games to watch Marcelos

Sarvas in action and how he figures in the tactics and formation line-ups

of Coach Bruce Arena.

In the worst-case scenario with Beckham and Juninho gone, I expect the pairing

of Chris Birchall and Marcelos Sarvas in the middle of midfield. It is just that

Birchall will take on more defensive role of the central midfielder. With the

inclusion of Marcelos Sarvas in the team, it is great for LA Galaxy as they will

need the strength of depth in the squad to challenge for the MLS, US Open and

CONCACAF Champions League. Not to mention that there is also Paolo Cardoza

and Michael Stephens, young midfielders who are ready to take up any

first-team opportunities.

LA Galaxy fans, let me hear from you!

The above does not represent LA Galaxy’s official position and is simply a frank

recommendation by BeckhamGalaxy. This is Terry Becker of BeckhamGalaxy,

signing off and we will like to hear any fan’s opinion with regards to Marcelos

Sarvas =)

LA Galaxy Transfer Rumors Off Season

Posted By: Terry on December 23, 2011 at 8:10 pm

There was a flurry of player-transfer activities going on and BeckhamGalaxy

is diving in to bring the latest on LA Galaxy’s Player Transfer.

First up, I am sad to see Juninho leaving LA Galaxy, leaving a void in central

midfield. Juninho has been loaned by Brazilian club Sao Paulo to LA Galaxy

for the past two seasons and he has been turning out regularly for the first

team. His defensive midfield display has allowed David Beckham and Landon

Donovan to focus on making offensive plays for Galaxy. LA Galaxy fans will

remember Juninho for his wonderful Long-Range Bombs.

Juninho, the Midfield General

Juninho was the protege of David Beckham and his midfield

partnership with Beckham has worked wonders for Galaxy this season.

Judging from the latest tweets, even the LA Galaxy players were reluctant

to see Juninho leave the club.

Sean Franklin’s Twitter: sfranklin5             Juninho’s Twitter: Juninho19LA

sfranklin5: What’s up brooooo!

Juninho19LA: What’s up dude …

sfranklin5: Hope everything is going well in brazil bro

Juninho has officially signed a 3-year deal with Sao Paulo and we, at

BeckhamGalaxy wish Juninho all the best in his future playing endeavors

at Sao Paulo. In response to his imminent departure, Juninho left a parting

message to all the LA Galaxy fans.

Juninho19LA: I want to thank Galaxy and all of my fans for your kindness

and support for the past two years that I was on the team.

Omar Gonzalez eyed by Club America

Defender-of-the-year Omar Gonzalez is reportedly scouted by Club America,

who is closely monitoring the player’s progress.

Should Club America make a move for Gonzalez, it can prove to be tempting

for Gonzalez to turn down as Club America plays in the professional Mexican

league and they are able to offer a much more lucrative contract without

the wage restrictions of the MLS.

Club America has also been looking to shore up their defence and Omar

seemed to be a great addition to their first-team squad. Omar Gonzalez

and defensive partner, AJ DeLaGarza were called up to the US squad in

preparation for International Friendlies with Venezuela and Panama

next year. Gonzalez will be looking to add to his tally of 2 international

caps while DeLaGarza will be looking forward to his first international cap.

There is a current trend of US players moving out of the MLS to prove

themselves on another stage. In fact, the majority of the US National

Team (players with established positions) is made of US exports who plied

their trade in Europe. Should one of the European club call upon Gonzalez,

Gonzalez will find it hard to turn down the opportunity to prove himself

on a bigger stage in Europe.

Gonzalez has featured in all 40 games for the Galaxy this season and

was a dominating presence in defence for Galaxy as the Galaxy ties the

record 17-games shutout and allowing 38 goals in 46 games in all

competition.

Watch how Gonzalez tear Alajuelense (CONCACAF Champions League)

apart with a header from (no-suprise) amazing Beckham corner.

So is David Beckham leaving?

That will be the biggest question at the back of everyone’s mind

as Christmas comes along. Beckham is officially remains a

Galaxy player until 31st Decemeber 2011, and there were reports

that Beckham has already signed the deal with France Lique 1

club PSG.

BeckhamGalaxy managed to pop this question to Galaxy captain,

Landon Donovan. Click to hear his reply here.

After Christmas, the world awaits the official announcement of

David Beckham’s final decision. (Including BeckhamGalaxy.)

There is no greater anticipation than this. Don’t you agree?

Beckham Replies to Moving to PSG

Posted By: Terry on December 22, 2011 at 11:36 pm

After LA Galaxy’s MLS Cup Final Game versus Houston Dynamo, 20th Nov,

French Journalist: “What do you say to PSG Fans waiting for you in Paris?”

David Beckham: “Right now I’m a Galaxy player, that’s all I can say. I’m enjoying myself.”

PSG insiders stated publicly that the “Beckham deal” is 95 percent complete. (12th Dec)

Beckham’s reaction is a flat refusal to commit his future move, and suggested that he will

wait until the New Year before making a final decision.

As to the French papers saying that the Beckham has signed the contract last Wed,

21st Dec,

French paper L’Equipe exclaimed “Le Voila!” (He’s here!)

While Le Parisien stated “Il a dit Oui!” (He said Yes!).

Beckham (through his spokesman):

“No agreement has been reached with any club yet,

talks of a deal are premature, David has yet to make a final decision on his future.”

In reply to this,

LA Galaxy (through the official website):

“…….the MLS Cup-winning Galaxy have consistently said they are fighting to re-sign

Beckham, whose initial five-year contract with the club comes to an end this year.”

According to French sports daily L’Equipe,

PSG plans to give Beckham the regal treatment normally reserved for a foreign politician.

The doors to Paris City Hall will be opened to David Beckham and his family upon their

arrival.

Beckham’s move to Paris has not been entirely welcomed by PSG fans. Some fans

criticized the proposed transfer attempt by PSG as nothing more than a commercial

and marketing decision to promote the club in Asia. Another French Socialist politician,

Jean Marc-Aryault criticized Beckham’s “enormous salary”. If the Socialist party wins

the next Presidential election, they would introduce the “Maximum Salary Cap”.

Beckham remains a LA Galaxy player until 31st Dec, however on 1st Jan 2012,

Beckham will become a free agent and he is available to sign for any club on a

free transfer. Beckham does not ruled out the possibility that he will sign a contract

extension with LA Galaxy.

What do the fans of LA Galaxy have to say to this?

Beckham "Thumbs Up" to re-sign with LA Galaxy?

BeckhamGalaxy on 2011 Christmas Paparazzi Trail

Posted By: Terry on December 21, 2011 at 5:12 pm

The spokesperson for David Beckham has “spoken” to the press that the talks about

David had already signed the contract with PSG is “premature”. Prior to this,

David has also stated that he will not make a decision until after Christmas and I

do believe that David is a man of his word. BeckhamGalaxy follows up on the report

and is hot on the trail of the Beckhams’s 2011 Christmas Paparazzi Trail.

David was also expected to be revealed in front of the PSG fans in the match against

Lille and the PSG fans were sorely disappointed to see a Beckham ‘No-show’. This

means that PSG was unable to “cash in” on the Christmas sale of Beckham’s PSG

Jerseys. The French Press is also very impatient, making bold (ridiculous) claims

that Beckham has already inked the deal and the headlines “Beckham has signed

with PSG” were typed out without any substantial evidence. Beckham’s

management agency XIX has stressed that David had not made any decision yet.

The Beckham family, David, Victoria, Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and the little sis, Harper

were spotted by the paparazzi at the Los Angeles International Airport to spend the

Christmas with their family on Dec 16, 2011. The Beckhams will be returning back

home in London to spend the Christmas with their families.

The Beckhams Spotted at LAX

Upon arrival in London, David and Victoria received Christmas Cooking How-to Guide

from Celebrity Chef, Gordon Ramsay. David and Victoria are close friends with TV

Celebrity Chef Gordon and his wife, Tana and the two families and children have

spent the Christmas Day together for the last few years.

The Cooking How-to guide is a cooking blueprint of how to master every part of the

Christmas lunch and is peppered with his Michelin-star insider tricks of the “kitchen”

trade.

It is noted that the two families are unable to spend Christmas together. Gordon and

David were talking about what they were going to do without him so Gordon drew up

a few pointers for the Beckhams with the aid of his cookbook Cooking How-to Guide.

At this point,

BeckhamGalaxy will like to wish all readers a Merry, Merry Christmas! So that was how

the Beckhams are going to spend Christmas for 2011, how about you?

Gordon must be fascinated with Beckham’s Tattoo

Beckham Galaxy on MLS Re-Entry Draft Trail 2012

Posted By: Terry on December 13, 2011 at 11:21 pm

LA Galaxy picked 4 players from the MLS Re-Entry Draft 2012 and was surprisingly the

most active club who is taking in the veteran players. In addition to that, they signed

30 years-old midfielder Marcelos Sarvas out of the MLS Draft 2012.

Marcelos Sarvas was the captain back when he was playing for Costa Rico outfit Alajuelense,

and he is deemed as an experienced central midfielder. He was an important player for

Alajuelense and he was instrumental in helping Alajuelense to the Verano 2011

Championship and also the club’s run in the CONCACAF Champions League.

Meanwhile, an offer has also been made to Santos for Juninho to extend his stay at

LA Galaxy. Next season, LA Galaxy fans will be able to see both Sarvas and Juninho

pairing up in the middle of the park. If Beckham is staying, LA Galaxy can operate

a three-man midfield or utilize Beckham on the right side of midfield.

BeckhamGalaxy Welcomes Marcelos Sarvas (Right of Pic)

Bruce Arena gave the following assessment to the former Alajuelense player during the

press conference.

“He’s a good player. He’s a good passer and is an experienced two-way midfielder.

I think he’s going to be a good addition.”

LA Galaxy manager Bruce Arena will be spoilt with choices and it can only be good

news for LA Galaxy and their fans.
